It’s been a while since we caught up with team rider Karl Sanderson. Hailing from Billinge near Wigan, Karls been running the Hutch frames and forks and racing all through 2016 around the country. He’s been riding for over 35 years and at 46 years old he is showing no signs of slowing down. We nailed him down and asked him a few questions about him and his bikes.
What custom mods have you made to your bike?
None
What is the newest part on your bike
ODI ruffian stay strong grips on both bikes. Love these grips. Always ask Alan to get them for me.
Whats the oldest part or part you wont change?
Probably the bars on my 20 inch, just swapped them for my hutch pro barsthat are a slightly lower height. And it would be the seat clamp on the 24 cruiser
How often do you put together a new setup?
Only when I need to replace stuff, but the chain will get changed every race season.

How well do you look after your bike, or does someone else do it?
Pretty well, I hate when stuff is loose. I always clean after every ride or race, hate a dirty bike. Wouldn't trust anyone else touching it apart from Alans.
What are you planning over the next few months?
Just winter riding at the BMX track indoor in Manchester. Hope to get a few skatepark trips in too. Also riding the mountain bike for some training.
What is the thing you’ve been most stoked on riding wise last 6 months?
Just racing new tracks. Telford and Scotland. Probably my best results this year. Had a session at Bolehills in Sheffield with the renegade crew that was mint.
What is your favourite thing to eat and drink when out riding?
When racing Lucazade sport orange, bananas and mars bars.
Worst thing about riding?
Loosing a race or crashing and getting injured
Best thing about riding?
Winning a race. But also having fun with your mates. That's what it's all about. Just getting out and enjoy.
