MKS XC-III Pedals

MKS XC-III Pedals

Whoa, check it out! MKS have remade (with a few tweaks) one of the popular 1980's BMX (and MTB pedals) - the XC-III Bear Trap Pedals.  Featuring a wide platform, giving extra grip and a stable feel while pedalling, rebuildable, tough, light and grippy. These were the benchmark pedal for 10 years in the BMX and MTB  world.

PLEASE NOTE: Black and Silver will be available in September and pre orders for these will open in July once the coloured versions have arrived.

The Blue Lug crew traced the original blueprints but added a little spice for the modern design. The bear traps are great for gravel, MTB, BMX and commuting and sit well on new and retro builds alike.

The wide platform gives you extra grip and a super stable feel. No need to explain MKS's smooth quality bearings, they’re well sealed and pretty easy to service when needed.

Available in 9/16" (for 3-piece cranks only).

Our History with the XC-II
We used the original SunTour XC-I and XC-II pedals on our team Robinson and Torker bikes and specc'd them on the Robinson RSR complete bike that we released in 1984. They came OEM on a few other complete bikes as well, including DiamondBack and Redline. Before the XC-I's (which had pointed rather than flat teeth, like a Hutch Beartrap) we either ran the sealed bearing SunTour square cage pedals, MKS BM-7's or KKT Lightnings. Of course, this is all before Shimano DX pedals came out in around 1982, but personally, I preferred the caged pedals and went back to XC-II's before running Hutch until the end of my career.
