Plain gauge offers great value and strength for all wheel builds, from mountain bike, to road, to touring and BMX usage.

What size?
The attached diagram gives the correct way to measure your spokes. Note the two most commonly referred to sizes are:
- The Length of the Spoke (shown in the diagram below as “L”), from the elbow of the spoke to the end of the spoke, and including the threaded area
- The spoke gauge (shown below as “G”). 14g is the most common gauge.
Don’t forget, you may have up to three different length spokes on the one wheel, depending on the way it was laced. To use a really basic example as an explanation, the drive side spokes on the rear wheel will generally be shorter than the non-drive side on the same wheel.
Don’t assume that one wheel uses consistently the same spoke length.
Accuracy: As long as it’s within 1 or 2mm generally you should be OK.

What are the delivery times?

Do the bikes arrive pre-built or will they need to be assembled?
Bikes arrive in a flatpack state and require the Handlebars, Seat, Pedals, Accessories and adjustment by a qualified cycle mechanic for the warranty to be valid. We do offer our Ready2Ride service where we build the bike here at the shop from our mechanics, adjust everything and keep your warranty intact, all you need to do is turn the bars straight and attach the pedals and you are ready to shred! There is an additional cost due to the oversize box and you can find this as an option on the product page or contact us.
Do you ship worldwide?
We ship worldwide and offer free shipping to Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg on orders over 300 Euro.

We remove our local UK VAT but you will need to pay import fees at the border of your country. Unfortunately AlansBMX cannot calculate these import fees as they are specific to your country. For USA customers orders under $800USD are tax free.
Do you offer finance?
