United Severance 22mm Cranks
United Severance 22mm Cranks
The new United Severence cranks are a 2.5 piece design with a hollow 22mm spindle, available in 165 170 or 175mm lengths in Black or Chrome
From the start when working on these Severance Cranks, we had some very specific ideas for how he wanted them to look, they needed to be easy to install and maintain, and obviously able to withstand the pressures of his riding. We took these ideas and combined them with some proven manufacturing processes and by using FEA analysis software have managed to create a lightweight and street tough pair of cranks.
The design has been kept slim, clean and simple to create classic looking arms without any fancy gimmicks, but it’s whats on the inside that counts. by hollowing out the 22mm spindle as much as possible and creating arms with a shape to offer greater bend resistance and strength. As a final touch, all cranks are supplied with an installation/removal tool and a small sachet of grease, which make fitting them a breeze

What Arm Length do I need?
To an extent, it's personal preference. Traditionally, BMX cranks have been 175mm, but this evolved from BMX racing. Since the advent of park and for street riding especially for riders running pegs, shorter arm lengths like 160 and 165mm have become popular.
What Bottom Bracket do I need?
Cranks nowadays usually don't come with bottom bracket bearings - this is so you can select the BB you need for your frame. You need two pieces of information when ordering a BB - the crank's spindle size - in this case 22mm and the BB size of your frame - see image showing the types. Choose your BB here.
Fitting
Don't forget to use grease in your bearings and your pedal threads when installing cranks. And a pedal spanner for fitting your pedals. See our note about pedal fitment here.
